Tokyo, January 25, 2019 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that it will release new PX-S1000/S3000 models in its Privia*2 digital piano lineup. The new model features a slim and stylish design boasting the world’s slimmest depth, while retaining a sophisticated keyboard touch and authentic timbre.\n\n- 1 Among digital pianos with 88 hammer-action keys and built-in speaker, Casio survey as of January 25, 2019.\n- 2 Casio’s name for a piano you can enjoy in your home--a “Private Piano.”\nCasio originally developed the Privia series to make the joy of playing piano accessible to more people. The goal was to provide the user with the qualities of a piano at less than half the weight and half the price while seeking to upgrade the performance of the digital piano, including both sound and keyboard touch. Casio released the first Privia model, the PX-100, in October 2003. Delivering an appealing overall package of features, the PX-100 received a very positive response and significantly expanded the electronic piano market.\n\nThe new PX-S1000/S3000 models return to the original Privia series concept of “Private Piano.” While their slim profile makes them the slimmest electronic keyboard in the world, these pianos deliver a touch and beautiful sound like a grand piano. The newly developed Smart Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard is what makes the slim 232mm depth possible. With such a slim profile, users can now easily enjoy playing the piano in a variety of living environments without taking up a lot of space. The new models also provide the superior repeat-strike performance and touch feeling of a grand piano. The Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Source reproduces the natural temporal changes in tone, as well as changes in volume and timbre depending on the force of the keystroke. It can express the resonance and sounds of the action of the strings of a grand piano, producing rich and beautiful timbres.\n\nThe PX-S1000/S3000 models also offer for the first time an audio playback feature using Bluetooth®. They can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker that can add depth and performance hall acoustics to a sound, allowing the user to play the piano along with their favorite songs.\n\nThe slim and stylish body differentiates the Privia from other electronic pianos in its class\nBy making full use of the digital technologies Casio has developed over the years, the new Privia offers a high-quality keyboard touch and an elegant sound, but in a 20% slimmer (depth from front to back) body than the previous model (PX-160). The operating panel also employs a touch sensor, delivering a simple yet advanced button-less design.\n\nNew Smart Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard combines compactness with a natural playing feel\n\nKey Off Response reproduces repeat-strike performance\nThe note off timing based on the keys’ movements when the fingers release from the key is digitally controlled. When the same note is struck repeatedly, the next tone sounds firmly even if the key has not completely come back up after being struck.\n\n88-Key Digital Scaling realizes a grand piano-like touch\nThe touch of a grand piano varies with the differences in size and weight of the hammers over each of the 88 keys. The PX-S1000/S3000 models deliver the feeling of playing a grand piano through a meticulous key-by-key digital simulation of these subtle differences in touch.\n\nMulti-dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Source reproduces the beautiful sound of a grand piano\n\nRich sustain makes for comfortable playing\nThis sound source seamlessly reproduces the natural changes in tone from the moment a note sounds, through its beautiful sustain, until it finally vanishes away, including changes in both volume and timbre. In addition, it reproduces the reverberations, characteristic of the piano, which occur with the passage of time as the sound dies away, resulting in even richer sounding piano sustain.\n\nAcoustic Simulator reproduces grand piano string resonance and action sounds\nThe PX-S1000/S3000 models achieve a realistic feel of the timbre of a grand piano by reproducing the resonance of strings with frequencies closely associated with those being played as well as the resonance that occurs when strings are released by depressing the damper pedal. This feature also reproduces the sounds of a grand piano’s action that occur when playing a pianissimo note, and when releasing a key.\n\nAudio playback feature uses Bluetooth® to provide more ways to enjoy your digital piano\nThe user can listen to their favorite songs played through the speakers of the PX-S1000/S3000 models, and listen with the surround effect to enjoy the feeling of a live performance in their home.\n\nConnectivity with Casio’s dedicated Chordana Play for Piano app enables intuitive piano operation\nUsers can connect the PX-S1000/S3000 to a smartphone or tablet and intuitively operate various piano settings from the app screen, for example, to change the tone or play preset songs.
